I went to go see Amy Grant in Meridian, MS tonight. Here is my review about the concert:

Amy Grant’s concert was awesome tonight! It was in a very small, quaint theater in Meridian, MS. It was so small that every seat in the house was a good seat. Amy started the show with “My Father’s Eyes” with just her on the guitar. Then she brought in the band and did “Takes a Little Time.” Amy said this was the first time she had been with her band in six months. The best part about the night is that she played a whole bunch of new songs. She said some of them were being played the first time for a ticketed concert (I got to hear her new songs before most other people! How awesome is that?!) Here is a list of the new songs she played:

1. “Goodbye Two Boys, Hello One Man” - After attending a funeral for one of her son’s young friends, Amy was inspired to write this song.

2. “If I Could Hear What the Angels Hear” - Amy wrote this on her back porch.

3. “True Love” - A beautiful song about her relationship with Vince.

4. “Threaten Me With Heaven” - A song about her children’s grandfather, Terry Chapman, who has been very sick lately. After going through one of several blood tests with many negative results, Amy asked him how he was doing. He said “I’ll be fine. What are they going to do? Threaten me with Heaven?”

5. “Be Still” - Amy told us as a child she was very bored which is what got her into songwriting.  However, nowadays she notices that her children and others are so busy with activities, internet, cell phones that we hardly take the time to notice God.  This song is about being still before God amongst the panic of life.

The other really cool part about the concert was that Amy took requests from the audience about what songs to play. About half of the songs she did were requests from the audience. The first lady yelled out “Mimi’s House” so Amy played that with only a few errors as she tried to remember all the chords.   She also sang “Old Man’s Rubble” by request which was pretty cool.  Somebody yelled out “Love of Another Kind” but Amy told them she couldn’t since it’s been too long since she’s played that. Unfortunately, a lot of people yelled out her common songs that I have already seen her sing live on her DVD’s like “Lucky One” and “Baby Baby.” I yelled out “Find a Way” but she either didn’t hear me or didn’t want to play that song. lol What does she have against her Unguarded album??

Oh, another cool surprise was that she sang “The Power.” She said that Cher recorded this song after Amy had already recorded it so she fantasizes that maybe Cher has listened to one of her albums. Amy said she used to stalk Cher when she was 15 and would put all her magazine clippings in a scrapbook. haha

Amy closed with “El Shaddai” and “I Will Remember You.
” It was an amazing night!

Here is my nephew Ryan singing “5 Little Elves” that my sister caught on tape. He learned the song at his pre-school recently. I think it goes to the tune of “5 Little Ducks.” Isn’t he adorable?

I’m going to try and translate it because it’s difficult to understand. LOL

  I’ve now had the chance to hear these two newly released albums to finally make a good judgment on which one I like better. Hands down, I prefer Carrie Underwood’s new CD Carnival Ride. Carrie has the the talent, the voice, and even co-wrote four of the songs. My favorites from Carnival Ride are “All-American Girl,” “Let’s Get Out of This Town,” “Last Name” (the “Before He Cheats” song of this album) and her most beautiful ballad yet “I Know You Won’t.” Britney, well she doesn’t have the voice obviously but her CD does have a fun beat to listen to while driving. My favorites from Blackout are “Gimme More,” “Piece of Me,” and “Heaven on Earth.” Unfortunately all I can think about is her being forced to sing these songs that were spoon-fed to her. “Cmon Britney, please sing for us. We know you want to get back to your drugs but just stay in the studio a little bit longer, ok?”

Just kidding! It is the new single from Blake Lewis titled “Break Anotha.” I don’t know what to think of it so far. I guess it is somewhat catchy.

This cracked me up!! A blend of Kelly’s “Shoes” and Britney’s latest single.

Britney’s performance at the 2007 MTV VMA’s was a little disappointing to say the least. She had no facial expressions - it was like watching a zombie going through the motions! However, I will say that I love her new song. I also think her body looked pretty good despite all the fat jokes I’ve been reading online. I think women are more attractive when they have some nice, round curves on their body. Speaking of attractive, my girl Sarah Silverman was there and gave it to Britney pretty bad after her performance. I have over 300 dirty comments written by Britney fans on my Sarah site. You can see video of her opening monologue there also. Sarah had a few jokes that got little reaction (the diarrhea bit and the Paris Hilton apology) but the vagina lips and black/jewish racism jokes had me rolling on the floor. Anyways, I hope Britney gains a little more personality on her next performance. Meanwhile I’m anxiously awaiting her next album!

OH, and did you see all the hot black guys on stage? Timbaland, Chris Brown, and Robin Thicke (he is sorta black) were BILF’s! Kanye West just makes me sick to my stomach though.[tags]Britney Spears, Sarah Silverman, MTV, VMAs, video music awards[/tags]
