My friend Heath got my favorite movie autographed by Lily Tomlin! She was in Birmingham last weekend. Big Business is the only movie I can recite every single line! He snuck my DVD without me knowing and put it in her dressing room (he works at the arena where she was doing her one-woman show). Isn’t that awesome??

Friday night I saw Superbad. In the style of Porky’s and American Pie it deals with adolescent males coming to terms with their manhood - except in this movie it all takes place in one day. The movie deals with three guys on a quest to get booze for a party in order to impress girls which then leads to a night of raunchy adventures they will never forget. Michael Cera who plays Evan is simply adorable in this movie. You could eat him up with a spoon with that baby face of his. However, Christopher Mintz-Plasse who plays “McLovin” was the best character in my opinion. His nerdy facial expressions and voice make the movie. As I had mentioned in my previous post it takes some very inappropriate behavior and comedy to make me laugh, and with Superbad’s scenes featuring dick-drawing obsessions and girls dancing while menstruating - this movie delivered it like Domino’s!

On Sunday I saw Stardust. This movie had it all: fantasy, comedy, romance, and suspense. Never since The Princess Bride or Willow have I seen such a great fantasy-based movie. Michelle Pfeiffer is fabulous as the head witch. I didn’t used to like Claire Danes, but I changed my mind after watching her remarkable portrayal as the Star. Robert DeNiro has the funniest role in the movie which involves a surprising gay twist which I won’t go into further detail about. Just go watch the movie as soon as you can! Best movie I have seen so far this year!

I filmed this movie in 2001 with Julianne Moore called World Traveler. Here is a scene with Julianne, Billy Crudup, and me acting our asses off. I appear about 20 seconds into the video. They were a pleasure to work with. What do you guys think about my fierce acting?

I just saw the documentary Jesus Camp on DVD about the radical Christian camp in North Dakota training kids to be warriors for Jesus. It was fascinating to see how passionate these extreme evangelicals are in their beliefs about how kids should be raised. Having grown up in the Church myself I’m all for church camps and teaching kids about Jesus. The thing that bothered me the most about this movie was that they focused on teaching kids about political issues such as anti-abortion, evolution vs. creationism, and praying for change in our government. Most of the camp sermons focused on their anger with how wrong the world is today. There were no sermons about how kids should go back to their schools and show love, peace and joy to their classmates and share Jesus in a gentle, non-intimidating way. One ironic segment of the movie shows Ted Haggard, former senior pastor of New Life Church who was outed recently about his dealings with a male prostitute, talking about the evils of homosexuality. Funny timing on the release of this movie indeed. I think these evangelical Churches need to focus a little more on compassion because many of these so called “sodomites” are in their own congregation and clergy. But anyways, I highly recommend you watch this interesting documentary because it will give you more insight on the people who make up such a large percentage of our nation today.

Tuesday I never laughed so hard. I was given 12 free tickets to the comedy club for my birthday. My birthday was last week, but every year it seems to be a month-long event. Nine of my friends were able to make it. Let me tell you, it was a blast! I’ve been to the Stardome Comedy Club numerous times but this was the best time ever. Our headliner was a lady named Jen Kober. Remember that name, she’s going to be famous soon. She already has a movie coming out with Ben Stiller and has her own upcoming show planned for Comedy Central. I was really thankful she was there because a lot of my friends that came had never been to a comedy club and I think Jen Kober made their first visit unforgettable.

This movie has got to be one of the most intense movies I’ve ever seen. I don’t want to spoil it, but the scenes and camara-work are nothing short of amazing.
