I stole this from my friend Shane.
1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Egg nog! It’s much more festive than hot chocolate. Hot chocolate can be served anytime during the winter. Egg nog was made for Christmas.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Uhhh…first off there is no Santa. I had a friend dress up as Santa last year on Christmas day to surprise my 8 year old niece. Then I had him take off his beard and say “Merry Reality.” I just think it’s better for kids to know early on.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White is classic. Colored lights, although fun, can be tacky.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No. Last year I got mono from doing that so I’m stopping that this year. It was like the best diet ever though.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
Honestly, I’m not a decorator - at all. I usually end up dating someone who is pretty good at that stuff though. Then I dump them after.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
My mom’s mashed potatoes. She cooks them from scratch. Actually, I have to scratch all the skin off the potatoes myself before she cooks them. But it’s well worth it.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Waking up as a child in the 80’s to find a boom box with three awesome cassettes: Michael Jackson “Thriller,” Cyndi Lauper “She’s So Unusual,” and Huey Lewis and the News “Sports.”
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
My stepmother sat me down and broke the news.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yes! One of our traditions is to open a present every Christmas eve (usually something we can go to bed with like some slippers, a teddy bear, etc.)
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
As a child we would buy tinsel and just use the same decorations on the tree year after year. Since I was the tallest I always had to put the angel on top of the tree.
11. Snow: love it or hate it?
I lived in West Virginia for two years as a child and I absolutely loved to sleigh. I couldn’t get enough of it. So I really miss that. However, I don’t miss the cold.
12. Can you ice skate?
I haven’t been given a fair chance at it. I went to a rink a few years ago and they didn’t have skates in my shoe size. I had to go down two sizes and my feet were killing me. I couldn’t skate for long.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
See #7
14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Spending time with my family. I don’t get to see them that often and so when I go visit them it’s a really special time.
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Sugar cookies with those red and green sprinkles that only moms know how to bake just right.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Eating egg salad sandwiches on Christmas eve. Don’t ask why, my mom has done that in our family for years. I’m too lazy to make egg salad so it’s the only time of the year I get to eat it. So yummy!
17. What tops your tree?
My mom’s tree always has an angel on top. She’s really big into angels I think.
18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Like sexually or..? Giving.
19. What is your favorite Christmas song?
Anything off the Amy Grant Christmas album.
20. Candy canes:
I like the sweet green ones. Not the red, peppermint ones.
21. Favorite Christmas movie?
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
22. What do you leave for Santa?
How many times do I have to go over this?? There is no Santa!! (sorry Ryan)

Alcoholic egg-nog is definitely easier to get by with than alcoholic hot chocolate.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Unless that present is a puppy, Santa should be setting them under the tree.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Dude, the tackier the better! But maybe I’ve been hanging out with a few too many drag queens lately.
But if you REALLY want “tacky,” lookie what we do in Baltimore: this whole block on 34th Street in our Hampden neighborhood becomes a gigantic, Christmas-in-Vegas thing where every house just goes overboard. It’s a local tradition to come by and see the lights. Thankfully, some friends live very close by and during their Christmas party every year, we all walk up to see them. “Dem’s purty lights, hon” is what the locals usually say.
Adam - I need to try that.
John in IL - Oh I know.
John - That website has some awesome pictures hon’. LOL
Chris: I liked these questions so much I’ve answered them myself on my own page. I don’t know, maybe you’ve started a blog meme or something!
Chritmas is my favorite part of the year. I get into the Christmas spirit right after Thanksgiving listening to my favorite songs like, O Holy Night, Silent Night, and The First Noel. I usually decorate all over my house, with many christmas lights outside. I love it!
The holiday tradition in my house was going to the 11PM Christmas Eve Candle Light service at my church. I guess it did the job of keeping a little boy from waking up too early on Christmas morning.
Egg nog can get you drunk too, if you spice it up a bit!
heh. Nice. Keep up the good blogging.
Finding out that you don’t believe in Santa is almost worse than finding out Santa isn’t real.
I would rather have egg nog, it taste better with a bit of brandy. You can get chocolate all year long, egg nog only during the holiday season…
Really a good post, and comprehensive information keep it up man.
