I’ve got to get serious about shedding some pounds. My ass is getting too big for my britches. For some reason that’s where all my weight accumulates. So today I jogged around the neighborhood and did some pushups. I don’t know why but I’d rather do that than be around meatheads at the gym - even if they are cute. It’s a shame too because I’m paying for the gym membership and I never use it. So, anyone know any good diet tips? Someone told me about this but it sounds like an STD. Seriously though, if you have any good tips leave it in the comments or email me!

Hey Chris-my wife and I just bought that Michael Thurmond book that has his program on there. Don’t know yet if it works, but I will let you know. It seems more sensible to use an overused diet term. Nothing crazy about denial of food or stuff like that.
Dude there is no easy way to loose weight. I can tell you that now lol. There is 2 things you have to do and they are really simple. 1-The only way to lose weight is to simply put down the fork, eat less, eat healthy, stop eating take out, eat lots of fruits and veggies, drink lots of water, no candy or anything like that. 2- Run, swim, jog, bike, play sports, do yard work, clean. Whatever you do make sure you are sweating at the end of it. Eat healthy, get phsyical and you will see results. If you are serious about this then get a fat burner pill from your health store. You can lose like 10 pounds in 2 weeks easily but its not the natural way of doing it.
Those are some great tips. Thanks Shaun! Let me know if that book works out MG.
Hmm, where to begin??
1. Drink water, water and more water. Especially when you get hunger pangs. Sometimes, hunger is actually dehydration.
2. Eat SMALLER portions. I read that research has been done showing people can be ‘full’ from smaller portions and that we often eat ‘what’s on the plate’, regardless of how big or if we actually needed so much, when 2/3rds may have sufficed.
3. Cut out the takeaways, the pizzas, the cake, the doughnuts, etc. Don’t be too OTT about it, i.e. allow yourself ‘days off’ or at the weekend. Don’t get miserable over it.
4. Exercise and build that into your lifestyle. Jogging, cycling, etc.
5. Cut down on the booze. Beer is high in calories, even that hideous ‘lite’ stuff you have over there
6. Set yourself a target and monitor how you get on. On my blog under the ‘getting in shape’ page there is a link to an online weight monitor thing that you can update as you go along.
I started going myself about 2-3 months ago and have lost 10-11 lbs. I’m now 75 kgs and close to my target weight.
It’s slow going initially - but you genuinely feel fantastic when you start to see results (I’ve gone down a waist size, for example, and feel much better in myself).
Sounds cheesy but build it into your lifestyle. I used t love takeaways and lots of other crappy foods, but they’re so high in saturated fat and so low in goodness that they’re just not worth it. Same with exercise. I never did any at all, now I go 2-4 times a week and enjoy it. Never underestimate those endorphin highs, you feel fantastic!
Good luck with it.
Don’t ask me I had gastric bipass….lol lol
I just starve to death and malabsorb….basically it sucks
Um, why in the world would you want to lose your BUTT? That is like your calling card to the gay community. You look great, Chris. Don’t turn into one of thooose guys.
Send me your lunches…Catahoulas don’t gain weight…
Thanks to you all for all the advice and encouragement. I’m currently trying to implement these into my daily lifestyle.
The best way I’ve found to lose weight is to eat like 6 times a day, in way smaller portions, of course, but eating frequently keeps your metabolism on overdrive all day long. Also, try eating some protein with every meal- lean protein is typically lower in calories than carbs, and will fill you up. Protein is great for gaining muscle mass, too. Do this, cut out drinking as much as possible, and be sure to exercise regularly, and you should be seeing some progress soon.
