Well today I got my Macbook. I couldn’t wait any longer. It was so easy to setup and connected to my wireless router right away. I’m trying to become acquainted with the Mac’s operating system and adjust to the size and portability of the 13.3″ notebook. If anyone knows any cool free programs for the Mac feel free to share! Gosh I sound like a nerd.

Sorry, I’m too lazy to find links for all of those, but that is about a year of looking for new awesome apps and those are the ones I use on a regular basis. They’re ALL freeware too, unless otherwise noted.
A lot of people will say Firefox, but I would say start with Safari and keep it if you can get used to it.
If you ever want to talk mac, hit me up. (AIM: gthing32)
Gratz on the new mac! You have no excuse not to blog more now!
Such a hot pic.
Adium Adium Adium! It basically combines yahoo messenger, mac talk, google chat, aim all into one tabbed messenger. And it has a cute little duck for an icon too!
Thanks for the Adium reference guys. I love it!
Congrats on your new Macbook!. Even I’m planning to get one soon.
you bought a mac but the picture shows that the mac cause your toothache. what’s the matter with the mac? did you bit it off?
I’m wondering if I should be congratulating you…
o.k. I’m about to get one too! Do you love it, did you name yours, is it black or white, if it’s black, I’m naming it Black Mamba
I’ve been looking at getting a macbook. You’ll have to post what you think of it on here after using it for a while.
Here’s my top list for Mac proggies (been Mac user for a long time, writing this on my black Macbook
)
* Quicksilver (best launcher and random app ever)
* Virtue Desktops (virtual desktops for Mac, can’t live without them)
* Adium (best IM multi protocol for any platform)
* Transmission (my choice for torrent downloading)
* Acquisition (Peer 2 Peer downloads)
* CocoaMySQL (for all your database admin needs)
* Transmit (Best. FTP. EVER)
* Yojimbo (cool program to organize and categorize and tag your text files)
* TextMate (awesome text editor for all the PHP and HTML editing)
* AppZapper (application uninstaller)
* VLC (multi platform media player)
I think most of these are open source and/or free, a couple aren’t (like TextMate and Acquisition) but well worth the license price. Hope you find these useful.
Oh, also, I get the feeling you’re a web developer of some kind from reading your blog, so you might wanna check out these PHP and MySQL binaries for Mac:
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/
just so you don’t have to compile yourself heh.
I was thinking of getting a Mac laptop. My current Windows XP one is already kinda slow, and I have absolutely no desire to inflict Vista on myself. So I’m exploring Macs. And everyone I know that has ‘em just LOVES ‘em, almost like groupies or Scientologists in their devotion! It wouldn’t even be a question of staying with Windows, but it seems like so many of my Windows-created files can be read by Macs now! So really the choice seems simple. I just wish I had the money laying around
Well, if it’s a matter of money, try to get a friend who’s going to school or college to buy it for you. They get quite a nice discount.
