I’ve been wanting to use my Spanish outside of work to help others in the community. I finally got my prayer answered when my co-worker was talking about this organization that meets once a month and provides dental and vision care to Hispanics at no charge. So yesterday I went for the first time. They had set up clinic in a church and were very excited to have more bilingual volunteers. It was so organized and they had different doctors come and volunteer their services. They put me to work right away in their vision clinic helping the Hispanic men and women pick out eyeglasses to wear. It’s scary to think some of these people have been driving to work with such bad vision! They were so thankful and appreciative. It was truly a rewarding experience just being there. A nice change from all the vagina talk I’m used to speaking at work. I told them I would commit going once a month to help translate for their clinics. I’m really looking forward to the next one!
