No spammy comments Shane! Please add to the discussion. :)

Haha! That was my point. Didn’t want everyone on the web commenting just for the sake of commenting! But you know me, I generally only comment when I have something useful to say…or if I need attention!

So true. I’m going to mention that.

Congrats on joining the dofollow movement :)

I’m a stickler for these kind of things, but you might want to take a peek at that graphic and see if you can change the black to something else, and also clean up the white border. ;)

I’m on this one; I like the whole idea. Blogger is giving me one problem, though. But, I’m expecting to work out the glitch.

I’m a stickler for these kinds of things, but Sephtroth might want to take a peek at my kitchen and mop the floor.

I recently converted over to do follow as well - it seemed odd to me that I wouldn’t “reward” people who comment on my site.

Thankfully I found a handy dandy plugin for wordpress that takes care of it for me, then expires it after a certain time period for protection.

does the phrase ’spammy comments’ sound dirty to anyone but me? Anybody? No? Hmm.. LOL

Dofollow is spreading, and i think it’s a great thing. Nofollow on blog comments only started due to blog comment spam. Now that things like Akismet and Spam Karma exist, there’s no real reason to nofollow the comments. Congrats on making the right choice.

I just installed the dofollow plugin of a blog of mine. Haven’t noticed an increase in spam yet so it’s all good! :P

Hi,

I’m keeping an updated Do Follow List on my site and since yours is do-follow as well, I want to ask you if you want to join my list too.
There are over 220 websites featured here, so go on and start commenting on those appealing to you.

Let me know!

Thanks,
Nick

There is no “do follow” tag, only an absence of a “no follow” tag.

I do think it is harder to get people to comment on a blogspot blog for the exact reason that they won’t really be rewarded in any way. I’ve installed the blogcatalog and mybloglog widgets to show some kind of love for having someone visit my blog, but it’s not really the same, is it?

Just installed this plugin becuse of this post, thank you and see how it goes.
I don’t know about it because sometimes i think the site admins are thinking that im leaving comments now to get hits on my site.
But i guess if i have it installed in on my site also it kinda helps back and forth.

Any way thanks for the post wouldn’t have installed this other wise!

Hey Chris, I just did this on my own blog! I’d never even heard about this until I read your blog but it seems like such a great idea! And I moderate my comments anyway so that should cut down on spammy comments

I have to say that it is refreshing to see a blogger who is willing to put some faith in people instead of assuming the web is simply full of worthless spammers, despite the fact that there a lot of them out there. I salute you for your faith in the goodness of your fellow web citizens; or at least your willingness to remove spam comments ;)

Love this story, I heard recently about this you comment I follow thing and I have to say that I think it is marvelous personally I love to get comments on my blogs, if that means I have delete some spammers so be it; I am willing to reward people who contribute to the conversation.

I think this is the best way to build a community around a blog. I use it too on my blog.

I’m going to add the i follow logo to my blogs as well. I already have the nofollow removed from my blogs so it’s about time I advertised the fact.

There are two chief advantages: 1) Commenting on blogs with the nofollow removed improves your standing in search engines; 2) Having the tag removed and displaying the i follow logo increases comments on your blogs, which adds to the value of your posts.

If you use Wordpress a plugin like Askimet will take care of any spam problems. All nofollow really does is it prevents people getting good PageRank. It has done nothing to prevent spam.
